Cagayan Valley Startup Week 2021

In support of the booming Startup Ecosystem amid the pandemic, Cagayan State University in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology R02, Department of Trade and Industry R02, Department of Agriculture RFO 02, Department of Information and Communications Technology Luzon Cluster 1, and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry 02 proudly launched today the Cagayan Valley Startup Week 2021 which targets to strengthen the local startup community and showcase the growing startup ecosystem in the country, with the theme “Gearing up the Cagayan Valley Startup Ecosystem in the New Normal and Beyond”.

University President Urdujah G. Alvarado expressed the timeliness of the conference as the country is adapting to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the industry sector. “We aspire to enable the Innovation Ecosystem, empower Startups in the New Normal, and lead the way in moving forward to Industry 4.0” she said.

Tuguegarao City Mayor Jefferson P. Soriano also said that despite the challenges in the business and financial sectors, the pandemic also created unique opportunities that is brought about by the new normal as Tuguegarao City is progressing towards digitalization.

The Keynote message was delivered by DTI Undersecretary Dr. Rafaelita M. Aldaba who laid out a comprehensive overview of the status of the startup ecosystem in the Philippines during the pandemic and the emerging sub-sectors that are expected to grow in the future. She also re-affirmed DTI’s commitment in the development of the startup ecosystem.

This 3-day event seeks to maximize the pursuits of the Innovative Startup Law (RA 11337) and the operationalization of CSU’s BizNEST, a business incubation program that aims to nurture ideas and accelerate commercialization of generated technology headed by Dr. Jose Guzman. This is in order to increase the capacity of new businesses to thrive in the market.
